I was born and raised in Canada with Japanese and Chinese heritage. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and I’m currently in Türkiye completing my Master’s in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. I’m proficient in English and Japanese, speak some Mandarin, and have studied Turkish for 8+ years. I love learning languages and have explored Arabic, Korean, Ukrainian, Hebrew, Bengali, Persian, and Kinyarwanda. Outside of teaching, I am a professional photographer, love cooking, and homebrewing beer and wine! 僕はカナダ生まれの日中ハーフで、大学では言語学を学びました。現在はトルコで美食学の修士課程に在籍しています。日本語と英語が話せて、少し中国語もできます。アラビア語、韓国語、ウクライナ語、ヘブライ語、ベンガル語など、ペルシャ語、様々な言語を学んできました。趣味は写真、料理、自家製ビールとワイン作りです！生徒さんとお会いし、単なる学習者としてではなく、一人の人間としてつながることを心から楽しんでいます。一緒に練習してくれるネイティブスピーカーの存在がどれほど貴重か知っていますし、誰かの言語学習の旅の一部になることが大好きです。私は、リラックスした自然な会話を楽しみ、自由に話せる快適な空間を作り出す、前向きで熱心な教師です。趣味のこと、一日のこと、語学の目標、生活の中で起こった面白いドラマなど、何でも大歓迎です。励ましと忍耐、そして明確なガイダンスで、あなたの成長をお手伝いします。私のレッスンはリラックスした雰囲気で、上達の手助けをしたいと心から思っている友人とおしゃべりするようなフレンドリーなものです。会話練習、添削、文法や発音の指導、生徒さんの目標に応じた便利なフレーズなどを提供します。多くの生徒さんが私の文訳練習を楽しんでいます。楽しくて、変わっていて、でもとても実用的な文は、多用途性と自信をつけてくれます。現在、この文の翻訳練習を英語と日本語で提供しており、トルコ語の追加にも取り組んでいます。また、詳細なフィードバックや、よりクリアで自然な発音を求める生徒さんのために、発音練習レッスンも提供しています。

Hugh is a lovely teacher who is extremely easy to talk to. The lessons are very enjoyable, whether it is conversing in Japanese, or translating sentences. Hugh is a very supportive, patient and personable sensei. I have taken a few lessons with him now. I find it especially helpful that he is both a native Japanese and English speaker. He is able to explain things to me in everyday plain English. I enjoy our classes very much and have been learning a lot from him.
