I use methods like comprehensible input (Dreaming Spanish) and Language Transfer to build understanding. I also provide custom materials, practice exercises, and flashcards. Mónica is an excellent teacher. She is knowledgeable and answers my questions no matter how ridiculous. She also customizes each class based on what I want to work on as well as the areas in which I could use more practice. The homework she gives is useful and interesting.
