I was top of the class and form in English for the majority of my time during my upper secondary years. I was also part of the school debate team.
1119 English - University of Cambridge - 2014I got the highest grade in this native speaker/user level English examination. The exam was taken in Malaysia and our answers were sent to Cambridge, UK for grading.

After all these lessons with Kai, I have grown in several ways. Firstly, I am not afraid of speaking and writing anymore, especially writing. It helps me with my Chinese writing too. Now, I feel less pressure when I write, whether in English or in Chinese. I like to listen to podcasts and I can listen to most of the contents of different podcasts without subtitles or transcripts. I am also able to express myself better. When I write, I need to think, which helps me speak and write more logically. That is a hidden advantage of writing.

I think it’s important to genuinely enjoy what you learn in order to progress and to also have a safe space to experiment and try out new vocabulary or grammar structures. The lessons are structured and materials are provided. More importantly, Teacher Kai is good and patient. I have improved in vocabulary size, listening and reading comprehension, and writing and grammar skills, but especially in pronunciation and speaking.
