I give John my highest recommendation for Mandarin lessons! Every session he continues to impress with his customized learning materials and highly effective teaching methods. He gets into specific ways to improve pronunciation and really provides key phrases that I will use in real-life situations. It was great to see examples of how the vowels are used in common words. I especially struggled with e'y and e'i, but John showed me the difference and now I finally understand how these make different sounds and how to spell the words I was having trouble with.

John does a great job of helping me learn how to pronounce the Yakut vowel sounds! And I like that he uses more than one source for study. We used a guide he had prepared and videos if native speakers. I'm excited to keep learning!

I really liked this Dixian lesson! I liked seeing the different examples of spelling and pronunciation of the same word for various English dialects. I also got to learn about consonant clusters, vowel and consonant sounds (soft sound, thorat sounds, "y" insertion), and how to write extended vowels.
