This is a trial lesson to see if we're a good learning match. It's basically us interviewing each other through conversation, and sharing our thoughts about learning languages.  We can master some small talk, or dive into the nitty gritty of nuanced English, building on top of what you know already.

At best practice makes perfect, at worst it makes permanent! This class will focus on developing proper accent habits, how to train them, and learning several accent tecniques that you can put into practice everytime you study. We'll focus on a technique called "Shadowing" and start slowly. We have a host of materials at our service; we'll find what works best for you. Even if your English gets rusty or unused for a while, the good muscle memory of accent training will never leave you!

Develop good accent habits forever

Have you ever had a song stuck in your head? In this class we'll try to put as many songs in your head as possible. According to your musical tastes (and some of mine I hope!) we will take advantage of one of the most amazing phenomena in the world: musical memory. I play guitar, piano, drums, do vocals and compose music for platforms and audiovisual projects, so we can write songs together as well. We can speak about the song--it's history, construction, and harmony--but most importantly, we can SING and LEARN IT BY HEART! This class is for musicians and non musicians alike.

Singing in English

Do you have an urgent need to improve your English for work, travel or relationships? Are you ready to dedicate a few hours a day in order to finally break through plateaus and arrive at a closer connection with the language, one that is more meaningful and permament?

Zeroing in on daily meetings, this module is the crème de la crème for learning large amounts of vocabulary and really assimilating sentence structure, flow and accent. It will keep you on track and reviewing the material you learn with "spaced repetition" training. Daily writing assignments will be corrected in a video format, and then discussed briefly in class. Weak points will be diagnosed and converted into strengths. Our goal is to learn as many new words and phrases as possible in this time (fine tuning the review process). Upon finishing this module, it is advisable that for at least 3 months you should do bi-weekly reviews via flashcards, wordlists or with other Italki teachers to foment long term memory connections.

The plan:
1) Plan a trip (or at least purchase a ticket) to a country where English is spoken. This establishes a timeframe for you--a goal. (I recommend choosing a date 2-3 months away).
2) 3 days on, "1 day "off." 5 days on 2 days "off" can also work for those with busy schedules.
I place the word off in quotes because you will not be learning new material that day, but rather reviewing on thse "off" days.

Admittedly, it is an intense schedule, but the advantage is that very little effort is wasted, so you can pack roughly one year of classroom learning into 4-6 weeks. When you finally visit an English speaking country, this immersion will help cement all your hard work, build confidence and aplomb and you just may be flabbergasted at how fluent your English has become!
