Cerca de 190 edificios colapsaron parcial o totalmente en la capital del país el 19 de septiembre de 1985. Al menos 6,000 personas murieron. Todo se vino abajo, sin claridad hacia el futuro. Las telecomunicaciones cayeron, la información surgía lentamente mientras la muerte colmaba el espacio de los sobrevivientes. Una conciencia colectiva se construía rápidamente, a pesar de todo, cuando miles salían a las calles ante lo innombrable. De los escombros y sin saberlo, algo estaba por nacer en México.

No fue, sin embargo, la primera vez que la ciudad sucumbía ante las sacudidas de un terremoto. Veintiocho años antes, en 1957, ocurrió un gran sismo al sureste de Acapulco. Ese terremoto llevó al piso varios inmuebles en la capital, como la Escuela Superior de Comercio y Administración, y edificios habitacionales en la colonia Roma. Otras edificaciones tuvieron que ser demolidas tras la sacudida que, emblemáticamente, recordamos por haber derribado al Ángel de la Independencia. Pero no todo fue destrucción. En palabras del ingeniero civil Luis Esteva, ese sismo representó el nacimiento de la ingeniería sísmica en México; oficio dedicado a la caracterización de las sacudidas sísmicas y cuya escuela mexicana goza del más alto reconocimiento internacional. Con los escasos datos que existían, se comenzaron a trazar directivas de construcción sismo resistente. Así llegó el terremoto de 1979, esta vez al noroeste de Acapulco, que abatiría por completo uno de los edificios de la antigua sede de la Universidad Iberoamericana. Poco se sabía aún de lo implacable que podía ser un terremoto en la Ciudad de México.

El conocimiento sismológico con fines preventivos era insignificante en 1985. Contados sismómetros operaban en la capital. Nadie podía saber, en su justa dimensión, lo que supone edificar una ciudad sobre los sedimentos de antiguos lagos. 羊说：“不对，长得矮好。”
tā men zǒu dào yí ɡè huā yuán pánɡ biān。
他们走到一个花园旁边。
huā yuán sì miàn yǒu wéi qiánɡ，lǐ miàn zhònɡ le hěn duō shù，
花园四面有围墙，里面种了很多树，
mào shènɡ de zhī yè shēn chū le qiánɡ wài。 
茂盛的枝叶伸出了墙外。
luò tuo tái qǐ tóu，hěn rónɡ yì jiù chī dào le shù yè。
骆驼抬起头，很容易就吃到了树叶。
kě shì，yánɡ bó zi shēn de hěn chánɡ，yě chī bú dào。 
可是，羊脖子伸得很长，也吃不到。
luò tuo shuō：“nǐ kàn，ɡāo bǐ ǎi ɡènɡ hǎo bɑ！” 
骆驼说：“你看，高比矮更好吧！”
yánɡ yáo le yáo tóu，yě bù rèn shū。 
羊摇了摇头，也不认输。
tā men yòu zǒu le jǐ bù，
他们又走了几步，
kàn jiàn wéi qiánɡ yǒu ɡè hěn ǎi de mén，
看见围墙有个很矮的门，
yánɡ dé yì dì zǒu jìn mén，qù chī huā yuán lǐ de cǎo  
羊得意地走进门，去吃花园里的草。
luò tuo ɡuì xià qián tuǐ，dī xià tóu，xiǎnɡ jìn qù，kě shì tā tài ɡāo le。
骆驼跪下前腿，低下头，想进去，可是他太高了。
yánɡ shuō：“nǐ kàn，ǎi bǐ ɡāo hǎo bɑ！”
羊说：“你看，矮比高好吧！”

骆驼摇了摇头，也不认输。

他们去找老牛讲道理，

안녕하세요, 여러분! 오늘은 새롭게 떠오른 한국어 표현인 파묘에 대해 이야기해 보려고 해요. 
이 표현은 원래 “무덤을 파서 옮기거나 다시 묻는다”라는 뜻인데요, 
영어로는 'exhuma'라고 번역 되었어요.
올해 초 개봉한 한국 오컬트 영화 파묘가 천만 관객을 돌파하면서 큰 인기를 끌었죠. 그런데 영화의 영향으로 이 단어가 한국 인터넷에서 완전히 새로운 의미로 쓰이게 되었어요.

파묘의 원래 의미는 "무덤을 파서 이장하거나 고쳐 묻는 일"인데, 영화 속에서 파묘를 하면서 무서운 악령이 깨어나는 장면이 나옵니다. 그래서 이제는 숨겨져 있던 부정적인 진실이나 문제가 갑작스레 드러나는 상황을 가리키는 은어 같은 표현으로 파묘가 사용되고 있어요. 
예를 들어, 누군가의 발언으로 인해 어떤 사건이 폭로되거나, 감추어졌던 진실이 밝혀지는 상황에서 사람들이 "파묘됐다"라고 말하는 거죠.

최근 파묘된 사례로는 '퍼프대디 사건'이 있는데요. 미국의 유명 래퍼인 '퍼프대디'가 엄청난 범죄에 연루된 정황이 언론에 의해 밝혀졌습니다. 
이처럼 그동안 감춰져 있던 일들이 드러나면서 많은 사람들에게 큰 충격을 주었죠. 이런 일이 벌어지면, 한국 사람들은 요즘 “와, 완전 파묘됐네!” 라고 반응해요.

이제 파묘는 사건의 은폐된 진실이 드러날 때를 가리키는 한국식 밈meme 같은 표현이 되었어요. 회사 스캔들이나 공인의 과거 문제 같은 걸 파헤칠 때 이 단어를 많이 씁니다.

어떻게 보면 이 표현을 통해 한국 문화에서 무언가 드러날 때의 느낌, 그 충격과 반응을 생생하게 볼 수 있어요. 다음에 한국 친구들이 “파묘”라는 표현을 사용한다면 “아, 숨겨져 있던 부정적인 일이 드러나는구나!”하고 기억해 주세요.
