Let’s face it, as human beings—complex, multifaceted individuals—we are perpetually immersed in thought. Whether we refer to it as "mind" or simply the constant stream of consciousness, these thoughts can often pull us away from our intended focus, particularly when studying. You’ve likely experienced those moments where, despite your best efforts, your mind drifts towards an upcoming event, a lingering problem, or unresolved personal matters. In these moments, the traditional approach might be to forcefully redirect your attention back to your studies, but today, I’m going to propose a different, more Zen-like strategy.

This story uses words from '1000 most common words in English'. 


The morning comes quickly because Lemon has slept like a rock. He wakes up remembering his dream: an effortless glide through golden gates guided by angles and eagles.

“Mum, dad, I need to talk to you,” says Lemon. “I’m leaving… I’m going to go find this paradise. I need to see it for myself. I want to feel the soil between my toes and taste the unknown insects.” 

His parents are quiet for a moment. They see in his eyes that this is very important, and they only want what is best for their child. 

His mother speaks first. “You are a sweet child, little Lemon. You have a wonderful mind, brave and curious. You know you’re always welcome here. Our nest is always open.” 

“Mum, of course I’m coming back! I love you two so much and this is my home.” 

Lemon’s father says, “It has been said that there comes a point in a bird’s life when he needs to go beyond the mountains… It happened to my father and my father’s father, but never for me. That time never came. I grew up during the worst winter in known history. I had to work and sacrifice—there was no time for adventures… so, go on, Lemon. Get out there and live your life!” 

“You are the best parents a bird could ever wish for!” 

And with those words, the family hugs, a long hug which, even though freezing winds rip past them, seems to warm them to their very bones.

はじめまして!  -  First meeting

こんにちは！Atsushiです。
今日の北海道の天気は晴れ。
気温は21℃です。暑くないです。

今日はコーヒーについて。
私はオンラインで日本語を教えながら、オンラインでコーヒー豆を売っています。日本だけで売っています。

自分でコーヒーを焙煎ばいせんしています。
焙煎の意味は、roastですね。
焙煎すると、とても良い香りがします。

コロナ禍になってから、家で焙煎をはじめました。
もともとは自分のためにしていましたが、焙煎したてのコーヒーは香りが豊かです。香りがとても良いです。焙煎したてのコーヒーの香りやおいしさをたくさんの人にも楽しんでもらいたいと思い、オンラインで売ることを決めました。

香りの良い、おいしいコーヒーがあると、家での時間もいいものになりますね。

友達や知り合いも飲んだ後に、おいしかったー、香りが良かったー、などと良いリアクションをくれます。とても嬉しいです。

コーヒーがあると、人とつながりがうまれます。
そのことがとても好きです。

日本語も同じだと思います。
ただ日本語を学習するのではなく、それを通して、人としてつながることが楽しいと私は思います。
私はみなさんの日本語学習のサポートを通して、考えや知識、価値観など、たくさん広がりました。

みなさんにとっても、日本語学習を通していろんな人とつながりが生まれたら、私はとてもうれしいです！


コーヒーの話から日本語の話になりましたが、要は、コーヒーや日本語は人と関わるためのtool、道具で、大切なのは、人とつながりをもつこと、そして、自分の気持ちをオープンできる人に出会えることだと思います。
