02 - How to introduce yourself to your brazilian tutor or teacher

This story is about a day in the life of a Japanese office worker, using the expression “なければならない” (must/ have to). There are two types of sentences: the formal “なければなりません” and the casual “なきゃ,” so please listen for both.

Emma:
It's such a beautiful day. Want to go for a walk?

Tiam:
Absolutely. Where are we going?

Emma:
Central Park.

Tiam:
I've been there once, but I didn't have much time.

Emma:
Then today we'll explore it properly.

(They enter the park.)

Tiam:
I can't believe we're still in New York.

Emma:
I know! It feels so peaceful here.

Tiam:
It's nice to take a break from the busy streets.

Emma:
Exactly. This is where many New Yorkers come to relax.

Tiam:
Look at all the people!

Emma:
Everyone's doing something different.

Tiam:
That guy is reading a book.

Emma:
And those kids are flying a kite.

Tiam:
Oh, and there's a man playing the guitar.

Emma:
You can always find musicians here.

(They sit on a bench.)

Tiam:
I could stay here all afternoon.

Emma:
Me too. It's one of my favorite places in the city.

Tiam:
Do you come here often?

Emma:
Whenever I need some fresh air.

Tiam:
I think I'll start doing the same.

Emma:
See? You're becoming a real New Yorker.

Tiam:
(Laughs) I'm getting there.

今週の月曜日にアジア旅行から帰ってきました。
約1か月の旅行中で、4つの国に行きました！

マレーシア
ベトナム
タイ

です。

今回のPodcastでは、ベトナムの良いところをあげます！


・食べ物がおいしい
　ベトナムの料理は日本の料理に少し似ています。野菜がたくさんあります。それから辛さを調節することができます。自分の好みの味にできます。

・適度に積極的
　ベトナムに着いて、はじめに乗ったタクシーの運転手から、たくさん話しかけられました。英語ではないです。彼はGoogle translationを使って、ベトナム語を日本語に変換して、これからどこに行くのか、ここはオススメだから行ってほしい。遠くに行くなら私のタクシーを呼んでください。など、話しかけてきました。うれしい気持ちはありましたけど、遠くに行くつもりはないからタクシーは必要ないよ、ありがとう。と伝えると、彼はとても静かになりました。ベトナムではいろんな人が声をかけて来ますが、どこまでも声をかけてくるとか、しつこい感じは全然ないです。
　

・物価が安い
　何もかもが安い、わけではないですが、特に食べ物は場所を選べば、安くおいしく食べることができました。僕たちは、おいしくて安いバインミーを見つけたので、何度も食べました。もう1つおいしいものがありました。カフェでココナッツコーヒーというのがありました。これはココナッツとコーヒーのフラペチーノみたいな感じのドリンクです。個人的にはめっちゃおいしかったです。
　

・信号がないけど問題がない
　ベトナム、ダナンの道路には信号がほとんどありません。車もバイクも人も、自由に走りますし渡ります。事故が起こりそうですが、これがちょうど良い感じにみんなが走るので、事故が起こりません。はじめはドキドキしながら道路を渡りましたが、車もバイクもちゃんとよけて走ってくれることがわかってからは怖くなくなりました。


こんな感じでした！

ベトナムは、シンガポール、マレーシアと違う雰囲気でした。首都ではないビーチリゾートのダナンに行ったからかもしれません。住んでいる人はベトナム人と韓国人が多く、英語も通じにくかったです。

でもみんな笑顔でフレンドリーなので、問題なく楽しく過ごすことができました！
