「地震・雷・火事・親父（じしん・かみなり・かじ・おやじ）」という言葉があります。日本人のこわいもの、ベスト４と言われていますが、1位が「地震」なんですね。もう地震のお知らせが、毎日のように、あります。ああ、またか、という感じ。いや、しかし、慣れてはいけない。慣れなきゃいけないのは、災害（さいがい）から逃（に）げる訓練なのです。私の町大阪で、毎年9月に行われる避難（ひなん）訓練の様子（ようす）をお話ししましょう。それから、少し文句（もんく）も。

Amanda: Hi Maria!
Maria: Oh, hi Amanda.
Amanda: You look a bit worried, are you all right?
Maria: I’m exhausted. Yesterday’s homework took me all evening. It’s probably going to double next year, isn’t it?
Amanda: Probably. My older brother has to write long essays for his English literature course. But we’ll have fewer subjects to study. Have you chosen your courses yet?
Maria: No, when’s the deadline?
Amanda: We have another month, but the school emailed us all the list the other day. I have it on my phone.
Maria: Ooh, let’s have a look, then.
Amanda: Here it is. Oh, look, the Spanish and biology timetables clash. I won’t be able to do both.
Maria: Would you do that, though? Languages and science don’t go together, do they?
Amanda: Well, you wouldn't think so, but actually, my aunt is a research scientist, and a lot of European universities work together on projects. She’s working on a project with a university in Rome, one in Germany, and one in Portugal.
Maria: Is it a biology project?
Amanda: No, she’s a chemist. They’re working on a solution to clean up deadly pollution in rivers and lakes.
Maria: That sounds so cool and really fascinating.
Amanda: It really is. She gets to visit colleagues in different cities sometimes, and she gets her work translated into lots of different languages. She wishes she had learned some German, though, so she could communicate better with her German research partners. She understands Portuguese and Italian, but German, not so much.
Maria: When did she learn Portuguese and Italian?
Amanda: I think she did some of her university degree in Lisbon and some in Rome.
Maria: Studying chemistry in different languages?
Amanda: Yes, she loved it!
Maria: So, you’re kind of following in her footsteps, then. Science and languages. You could be a biologist in Spain.
Amanda: Yep, or at least study there, or South America.
Maria: So, what are you going to do about the timetable clash?
Amanda: I think I’ll talk to the dean.

Сего́дня я бы хоте́ла бы переда́ть разгово́р мои́х друзе́й о том, как мы в ру́сском языке́ называ́ем бли́зких люде́й, с кото́рыми нахо́димся в романти́ческих отноше́ниях, но кото́рые ещё не явля́ются на́шим му́жем и́ли жено́й.
Нас бы́ло тро́е - я, На́стя и Андре́й. Вы уви́дите, что бо́йфренд и гёрлфренд – э́то не то́лько де́вушка и па́рень, но и мужчи́на, же́нщина, спу́тник, спу́тница, втора́я полови́на, и что ра́зные те́рмины отража́ют уваже́ние, во́зраст и конте́кст.
Так, На́стя ча́сто прихо́дит игра́ть в насто́льные и́гры с Ники́той, и она́ называ́ет его́ «мой молодо́й челове́к». С её то́чки зре́ния, э́то выраже́ние подчёркивает серьёзность их отноше́ний и её уваже́ние к парнёру.
Когдя я попроси́ла На́стю спроси́ть Андре́я о нали́чии у Андре́я «гёрлфренд», На́стя сказа́ла: «Андре́й, есть ли у тебя́ «втора́я полови́на»?
Э́то сно́ва говори́т о том, что На́стя выбира́ет уважи́тельные и да́же романти́чные те́рмины, в отли́чие от не доста́точно серьёзного сло́ва «де́вушка». Но На́стя ещё доба́вила, что ей стра́нно спра́шивать челове́ка напряму́ю свобо́ден челове́к и́ли нет. Она́ бы пообща́лась и по ситуа́ции бы поняла́.

Андре́й в свою́ о́чередь сказа́л, что е́сли два челове́ка пришли́ вме́сте, то одного́ из них мо́жно назва́ть "спу́тник" и́ли "спу́тница", поско́льку  мы не всегда́ зна́ем, кем прихо́дятся  друг дру́гу э́ти дво́е: муж и жена́, де́вушка и па́рень и́ли про́сто друзья́. Спу́тник и спу́тница – о́чень удо́бные слова́.

А вот лю́ди в во́зрасте называ́ют свои́х партнёров  "мой мужчи́на"и "моя́ же́нщина". Для меня́ э́то звучи́т как вполне́ серьёзное и уважи́тельное отноше́ние, но тем не ме́нее да́же среди́ пятидесятиле́тних мужчи́н есть те, кто называ́ет же́нщину, с кото́рой встреча́ются, де́вушкой, хотя́ э́той "де́вушке" то́же пятьдеся́т лет. Я ду́маю, э́то происхо́дит из стереоти́па, что же́нщинам не нра́вится старе́ть и переходи́ть в ста́тус «же́нщины».
