설명
Description is the skill that separates a functional speaker from an interesting one. Anybody can say "I went to Munnar." Very few learners can say what Munnar looked like — and that is the difference between being understood and being listened to. THE FRAME — three structures you already own 1. ഉണ്ട് — existence. The backbone. A place is described in Malayalam mostly by listing what exists in it. 2. The ആണ് equation — X is Y, for fixed qualities. It is beautiful. It is cold. 3. ആയിരുന്നു — the past. Because most description is told afterwards. The machinery is already yours. What you need now is adjectives, spatial language, and the habit of noticing. THE CORE ADJECTIVES OF PLACE ഭംഗിയുള്ള beautiful — the sentence form is ഭംഗിയാണ് വലിയ big · ചെറിയ small · പഴയ old · പുതിയ new തിരക്കുള്ള crowded — and the noun തിരക്ക്, crowd or rush, is one of the highest-frequency words in Kerala speech ശാന്തമായ quiet, ശാന്തം in speech · ബഹളമുള്ള noisy — the noun ബഹളം you will hear constantly വൃത്തിയുള്ള clean · വൃത്തികെട്ട dirty — note കെട്ട as a suffix means spoiled or gone bad, and it runs through a whole family of negative adjectives പച്ച green — and പച്ചപ്പ്, greenness, is a word people use with real affection A TRAP WORTH KNOWING തണുപ്പ് cold and ചൂട് hot are NOUNS in Malayalam, not adjectives. You use them with ആണ് or ഉണ്ട്: ഇവിടെ നല്ല തണുപ്പാണ് — it is properly cold here. ഈർപ്പം humidity · ഉഷ്ണം oppressive heat, the everyday complaint THE SENTENCES അത് വളരെ ഭംഗിയുള്ള സ്ഥലമാണ് — it is a very beautiful place ആ സ്ഥലം വളരെ ശാന്തമായിരുന്നു — the place was very quiet ഒരുപാട് ആളുകളുണ്ട് — there are a lot of people Quizzes below.
