설명
Cold food, a wrong bill, an hour in a queue: how to push back in Malayalam without becoming either a doormat or a monster. In Kerala a complaint is a sequence, not a single sentence, and starting on the wrong step is the classic outsider's error. This class climbs the ladder: the neutral observation with no blame in it, the softened request for a fix, the statement of inconvenience, the firm insistence and, rarely, the formal complaint. It also covers the cultural rule that decides the outcome: the person who shouts loses. Words and phrases in this class: ഇത് വർക്ക് ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല (ithu work cheyyunnilla) – this isn't working ബില്ല് ശരിയല്ല (billu shariyalla) – the bill is wrong ഇവിടെ ഒരു തെറ്റുണ്ട് (ivide oru thettundu) – there is a mistake here ഒന്ന് നോക്കാമോ? (onnu nokkaamo?) – could you just take a look? ഇത് മാറ്റാമോ? (ithu maattaamo?) – can this be changed? ഒരു മണിക്കൂറായി കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു (oru manikkooraayi kaathirikkunnu) – I've been waiting an hour എനിക്ക് തിരക്കുണ്ട് (enikku thirakkundu) – I'm in a hurry ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട് (buddhimuttu) – difficulty, inconvenience എനിക്ക് മാനേജരോട് സംസാരിക്കണം (enikku maanejarodu samsaarikkanam) – I want to speak to the manager പരാതി കൊടുക്കും (paraathi kodukkum) – I will file a complaint ഒരു സഹായം ചെയ്യാമോ? (oru sahaayam cheyyaamo?) – can you do me a favour? ഞാൻ എന്ത് ചെയ്യണം? (njaan enthu cheyyanam?) – what should I do? In this class: • The five steps, from a neutral observation to a formal complaint • ഒന്ന് — the one small word that shrinks any request • Why raising your voice fails in Kerala, and the quiet repetition that works • Turning the person behind the counter into your guide with one question Quizzes below.
