「ほんでね」ってどんな意味なの？ Learning the Tohoku dialect.

El Carbonero es una canción folklórica de El Salvador considerada por muchos salvadoreños como un segundo himno nacional, ya que relata las costumbres de la época. Esta canción es bastante conocida y es incluso representada en actividades culturales por personas que la bailan vistiendo trajes típicos.

Esta canción popular fue creación de don Pancho Lara (Francisco Antonio Lara Hernández), nacido en 1900 en la hacienda La Presa en Santa Ana, poeta y músico al que se le atribuyen alrededor de 400 composiciones, muchas infantiles y las mas famosas de perfil folclórico y popular.

En síntesis El carbonero trata de un personaje de orígenes humildes que baja de las cumbres cargando carbón de madera que venderá en las calles de pueblos y el mercado.
impresiona la capacidad lírica y el poder de concreción de don Pancho Lara, quien murió el 12 de mayo de 1989 y que fue declarado Hijo Meritísimo de El Salvador un mes después. “El Carbonero” es un legado para El Salvador.

The Missing Element in All Types of Interviews

In a job interview, make your case fast and be sure your suit is pressed, too. But it's not what the recording is about :) 

You might laugh, but it takes a few seconds for an experienced HR manager to decide on the outcome of the interview.

One of my students from China working as a general manager for a luxury firm said, "Oh, Anatoly, I watch for the words they use; if they have a victim mentality, the chances of them succeeding with us are low.". 

What are you going to do now after reading this?

I mean, I hear these remarks by my students who are top managers—they don't want to hear any kind of whining or complaining about the past. All they care about is how successfully you are going to assist and support the company's evolution and growth!

The winner's attitude is what they are looking for, and to be honest, it's a rare-case scenario.

If you check with yourself, what do you like? A complainer? A thrilled and excited individual? Are you happy about the changes, or does the future seem dark and gloomy?

Top managers got themselves trained to pick those nuanses, and so do I, as I've had top performers as my students for 8 years, and I did close to 21 thousand meetings with them—it's evident!

As a beginner, there're some vocabularies that you didn't learn before, and native speaker's speed seems too fast to understand. But don't worry, let's do it step by step. 
1st time: listen and catch the words you know already, have a guess about the content.
2nd time: look at the text to check if you guessed it right. 
3rd time: listen one more time, repeat after it.
4th time: practice until you can speak as the normal speed without looking at the text.

中国人怎么打招呼呢？
zhōng guó rén zěn me dǎ zhāo hū ne ？
How do Chinese people greet?
早上见面,我们说“早上好”，或者“早”。
zǎo shàng jiàn miàn , wǒ men shuō “ zǎo shàng hǎo ”， huò zhě “ zǎo ”。
When we meet in the morning, we say "good morning", or "morning".
上午9点到12点，我们说：“上午好。"
shàng wǔ jiǔ diǎn dào shí èr diǎn ， wǒ men shuō ：“ shàng wǔ hǎo 。"
From 9 am to 12 am, we say, "Good morning(before noon)."
中午12点左右，我们问：“你吃了吗？”

As the US navigates what some experts have described as a loneliness epidemic, employers and employees across the country are trying to address what for many people is a lack of real friendships at work.

It's not a new thing, but remote work has only intensified the problem, says leadership expert Michael Bungay Stanier.

"People have this desire to be seen and be heard," Bungay Stanier says, but on video calls, the group gets right down to business rather than having the natural, informal interactions of a real room. It reduces people to "little heads in squares."

It's not easy to talk about this lack of friendship at work "because it feels like a shameful confession," Bungay Stanier says. But his clients are beginning to bring up the subject.

Awkward as it may be, these are conversations worth having, according to psychology professor Laurie Santos.

At-work friendships are good for employers, too. Santos says research shows that workplace friendships and a sense of belonging are vital to employees' happiness — and companies' success.

We assume that friendships at work are "a nice-to-have, not a need-to-have," she said.

But "maybe one of the reasons we're all so disengaged at work ... is that we're actively not investing in the thing that might matter the most for our happiness at work, which is our connection with other people," Santos said.

Some large companies began paying more attention to employee health long before the pandemic, often focusing on physical health.

Today, more employers are looking at ways to really improve people's mental health and well-being.

And experts say there is a lot that companies can do, even rethinking physical spaces in the offices with relationships in mind.

More than anything, remember the importance of everyday greetings at work — even if they make you a bit uncomfortable. A simple hello, Bungay Stanier says, could be the beginning of the end of loneliness.
