EL ESPAÑOL ESTÁ DE MODA

Seguramente ya sabés que el español es la tercera lengua más hablada del mundo (después del chino mandarín y del inglés) y que es la lengua oficial de 21 países. También hay países en los que se habla pero no es la lengua oficial, como Estados Unidos (unos 40 millones de hispanohablantes) o Filipinas. Según datos del Instituto Cervantes, lo hablan 394 millones de perso- nas en todo el mundo y la previsión es de 538 millones en 2050. Y mucha gente, como vos, estudia español: ¡más de 40 millones!
Pero quizá no sabés que es la segunda lengua más usada en Internet, o la cuarta lengua mundial por la extensión del territorio mdonde se habla, o que hay muchas variedades locales, aunque sus hablantes se entienden sin dificultad.
La cultura hispana y el español están de moda en el mundo. De hecho, algunas palabras de la lengua española ya forman parte del habla cotidiana de muchos países. Las palabras con más éxito son las que se refieren a la gastronomía (tortilla, paella, jamón...) y otras como siesta, fiesta, patio, macho o amigo.
En Estados Unidos, la expresión hasta la vista es muy popular gracias a la película Terminator 2 y es habitual oír hola y adiós. Y también se usa mucho la frase mi casa es su casa, como muestra de amistad. Muchos anglófonos usan también aficionado (en lugar del fran- cés "amateur") y gusto para hablar del placer que algo nos produce.
El español está de moda en Grecia. Hay palabras incorporadas a la lengua, como bravo, pero también es frecuente escuchar hola, adiós, nada, muchas gracias, saludos, fiesta, dónde estás... ¡Y también olé!
Un caso curioso es el de Tel-Aviv, donde cada vez más jóvenes estudian y hablan español. ¡Y con acento argentino! ¿Cuál es la razón? En Israel las telenovelas argentinas, sobre todo las dirigidas a los adolescentes. son muy populares y se emiten en versión original con subtítulos.
