Unfortunately, a huge earthquake hit the Noto Peninsula area in Japan on New Year's Day. The news reports that 128 people are dead in Ishikawa Prefecture as of January 7th. It also states that 195 people are still unaccounted for after the earthquake. The Japanese people are devastated by the news. A portable battery charger was sent to Ishikawa the other day to support those affected by the disaster. The 2016 Kumamoto earthquake inspired the company Miraiju to develop the battery charger, and they commercialized it in 2023. It can generate electricity and charge with high-purity biodiesel fuel (BDF), composed of refined waste oil. The charger has a width of 1.7 meters, a length of 5.4 meters, a height of 2.3 meters, and weighs 6 tons. The company states that it can charge 30 smartphones simultaneously while charging an electric car. Kumamoto decided to send it to Ishikawa as a token of their appreciation for the support received during the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake. I, too, want to do something to help them. I really hope everything returns to normal in Ishikawa.
