Hi would you tell if the words ''humorous '' and ''hilarious '' are identical in all contexts or they don't convey the same meaning in some texts?

In the United States, we don't say "humorous" very much, we usually say "funny". They're not the same, I would say that "humorous" means "funny" and "hilarious" means "really funny".

Humourous is neutral and means amusing or funny, of a person or a film or program. Hilarious is much more intense. It means there were so many jokes you were laughing all the time, or you were rolling around on the floor laughing, you had tears in your eyes.

Hi Mona, good question! I would say that humorous is something which creates laughter while hilarious is something extremely funny. Also, while both adjectives can be used to describe people, we might not use ‘humorous’ for some situations or things. Hope this helps!
