Recently, I happened upon an impressive couple and their charming little girl on a train journey. The girl sat in the seat next to me, took out some food and toys from her bag and set them on the table.
Once her father saw this, he encouraged her further by saying, "...an opportunity for a little picnic" and laughed warmly. She managed to play all by herself and had fun entertaining herself during their journey.
At some point, she asked for her mom's phone and opened an art application. As a part of the process, she brought some sticks to the table, shared them out between her mom, dad and herself equally then asked them to vote to help to decide the colours in the painting.
She was only around 3-4 years old, yet her ability to express herself impressed me greatly. One thing I noted was that her parents spoke regularly with her; and it was clear that they took her and her questions seriously; by trying to answer them carefully. It was a nice experience for me to meet them.
