There's nothing wrong with the grammar, but we normally only use "hang up" when someone ends a call on purpose. If it happens without either person "hanging up", we usually say, "The call got disconnected."

You would most likely say the person hang up - as he/ she did…
You can say hang up ON someone.
But a phone call can cut off or be disconnected …..you can equally say these about people.
I got cut off or got disconnected when the plane was flying over…..
