Both "swanky" and "ritzy" describe something fancy, luxurious, or stylish, but they have slight differences in connotation and usage: 1. Swanky * Suggests elegance with a touch of showiness or pretentiousness. * Often used in a playful or slightly critical tone. * Example: "They hosted a swanky party at their mansion." 2. Ritzy * Suggests opulence and high-class luxury, sometimes with an air of exclusivity or snobbery. * Can also carry a playful or sarcastic tone but is more directly linked to wealth. * Example: "We stayed at a ritzy hotel downtown." Difference: * "Swanky" leans more toward stylish or flashy. * "Ritzy" focuses more on wealth and high-class sophistication.

They both aren't very common to hear anymore, especially 'swanky.' 'Swanky' would probably be used in a more sarcastic way than in a serious way. 'Ritzy' you still might hear sometimes...I would associate it more with something like a fancy hotel or building.
