When I'm telling someone to eat more fruit, can I say "你多吃水果" instead of "你多吃些水果"? And if I do say so with xie, which means some/a few, what meaning does it contribute to the sentence in general where duo chi can suffice for eat more?

你多吃水果 :it sounds weird, but I know your meaning.
你多吃点水果: the best , native speaker say this quite often.
I want to sleep early.

"你多吃水果" sounds harsh, like an order and not so natural, while "你多吃些水果" sounds suggestive and natural.
