British accents (RP) |#1 An introduction to British modern RP accents What do I mean by ‘British English’ and ‘British accents’? First things first, I want you to remember the fact that the UK has many different accents. I would like to introduce modern RP accents to you in my articles. Here is my recommendation. (e.g. rubbish) ・Pronounce the ’T’ clearly. ・It’s also common for British people to drop the 'T' most of the time. (‘glottal T’) ・’R’ is only pronounced when the vowel is after. ・They often use the ’Schwa’ sound. ・You need to know of ’Diphthongs’ ・The ’/ɒ/‘ sound creates a British sense. Once you have a fair understanding of these tips, please try to listen to British people speaking. You will get them more easily.

I am truly amazed that you are into British accents. Very few people do these days. American accent seems to be more popular. I am a Singaporean who has lived, studied and worked in Leeds and London for over six years. During these six years, I came across so many accents, even in London. Enjoy learning!!!
