Some people think that secondary school children should study international news as one of the school subjects. Other people think that it is a waste of valuable school time. What do you think?
There are certain people argue that middle schools should teach children about international news as a formal course, while others argue that it doesn’t worth the time. From my perspective, I suggest schools should take that specific course into consideration, as it is beneficial for kids to broaden horizon as well as adapt to a new environment when they stay overseas.
To begin with, once secondary schools offer students with international broadcast programs, their insight won’t be restricted in just their hometown. In fact, it’s a perfect time to let middle schoolers reach out to fresh knowledge they’ve never known before, in this case, they feel like the boundaries of the planet earth is limitless, leads them to walk out of the comfort zone. For instance, one of my middle school teachers provided us with local American newspaper to read during a class, my curiosity reached to a brand new level, which is why I decided to major in American history in Boston University.
On the other hand, schools which teach children about international news give students chances to get to be involved in a foreign society quickly. While kids travel or live abroad, the international news taught in middle school make them get used to the customs and cultures in another country. For example, my cousin received international courses when she was 14, she had no difficulties in communicating with other students from different cultural background while doing an exchange program in Germany.
In conclusion, learning about international news during middle school years does benefit teenagers in two ways, which is seeing the world in a different way and develop a greater understanding in foreign lifestyle.
