There are some differences, like American and British English. If you want to learn Standard German, it does not matter if your teacher is from Austria or Germany. What matters is the accent. Some Austrians and Germans have a strong regional accent, this is in my opinion not always helpful, except you live in this region. I have many students learning German who live in Germany or want to study in Germany.

We understand each other very well. Austrian German comes with a nice distinguishable accent and everyone will immediately know that your teacher is Austrian. Which can be charming. Also your Austrian teacher will most probably be professional enough to teach you Hochdeutsch (standard German) instead of some godforgotten dialect. 😏

Actually, Not Really. Speaking of differences, the pronunciation differs among Austrians: “a” “e” “i” is pronounced longer, Austrians speak more clearly and open their mouths more widely. and also some of Austrian said "Austrian language is friendlier and more beautiful than German" hahaha.
