Getting your hair cut can be a risk no matter whether communication is happening in the same language or not, let alone the same native country. So it might be good to be prepared with some background knowledge before heading in to a hair salon in Russia. Of course, you can always be experimental and let the hair stylist do anything, so check out how to talk about hair in Russian.

Я засмеялась когда я прочитала эту статью!!! Всё правда:) когда я была в отпуске в Узбекистане, мой муж всегда говорил, "лучше если ты никогда не говоришь здесь. Все будет 50% дороже[emoji][emoji]"

It's a nice article, but the trouble with knowing the questions, is that you need to be able to understand the answer!

I have had a haircut in Ukraine, I studied the signs before I went in, to try to understand what it would cost. It was very quiet, not busy, no appointment necessary.

Somehow I got a satisfactory result, with no nasty surprises.

I offered some money that I expected to be more than enough, and was told that is was the correct amount...

(Maybe 'foreigner price'.)

Now the way my native hairdresser behavior is kind of almost the same as this article except for the appointments.  There is no appointment problem.
