French keyboards and how to type special characters like é ù ç è à
I was wondering if there was an easy way for people using English keyboards to create those characters. I think in Microsoft Word you can type control-' (apostrophe) and then "e" or "a" to create different accents. However, I was wondering if there is a standard to do that (if you are in a text editor for example).
For people who write both in English and French, I suppose do you just switch into a French keyboard then? I'm just not used to it, and I have to hunt around for the letters...

The easiest way for me was to go to "Control Panel" Click on "clock, rlanguage, region" Change your keyboard settings to French, but you can also change them to any language you want. XD When it's saved all you have to do is press "ALt and Shift" this will change your keyboard to be exactly like a French keyboard or any other language you want. It will be just like a french keyboard. To switch it back press alt and shift again. Problem with this is you need to possibly google what a french keyboard looks like to memorize which letter is which XD

I always just copy and paste from a different page... I know it's not the best way, but it works for me!

Hey Vic,
I actually have to go from an english keyboard to a french one. I usually switch the language of my computer but it gets quite confusing. Usually my friends use a silicone rubber keyboard or a ASB keyboard (the flexible ones don't take any space in your bag).
I hope this answers your question!
