"Free to talk" or "Busy" status on italki

Don't you think the site would be better if there was an option to set the user status? Whenever I enter the site, I get a lot of messages and I have the options to simply ignore it (which is rude) or write to everyone I'm not here to talk at the moment - because Ijust logged in to check my messages or read discussions or whatever.

There should be a chance to let everyone know whether the user is busy or free to talk.

I think these messages are not a chat and should not be used as a chat. These are simply messages, like email. There should be no expectation to answer immediately or as soon as you are online. I think answering within two days is polite.

Katariina, you can go to your Account Settings / Privacy and then you can "turn off" the messages and/or friend requests...

but it would be better to have some faster option :)

I agree with Katarina. However I also think an extra option that one could show that you would be interested and available for a live conversation, like the options that teachers have for showing they are available for instant tutoring, would be a nice extra feature.

I agree with @Katarina. It is just a way to get in touch... You can answer it later.

I think that this would be a good feature. Right now people use the messages as a "chat" and if you don't respond right away the person gets upset. The Instant Tutoring button means that the teacher is available for lessons, and it would be good for another button for available for chats.
