I used to know a lot of people who thought 'moist' was a disgusting sounding word. Personally I've never felt that way. If the word 'moist' is used to describe the texture of a brownie for example I won't find it off putting. The very fact that it's used that way shows that there must be others who think it's a perfectly acceptable word.

I also know someone who is disgusted by the word 'broth'. If I was in a Chinese restaurant and given a bowl of broth with fried rice he would get annoyed at me for calling it broth and insist I just say 'clear soup'.

Haha I'm going back to my favorite George Carlin standup for this.  Most of them are phrases or expressions, but they're disgusting!

I cringe every time I hear words that are popular in academic/social justice spaces with the suffix -phobia. The new terminology appropriates medical vocabulary and often misuses it to deem any legitimate criticism irrational, even when it is based in reasoned arguments.

Jerry:

I also don’t at all get this thing about “moist” being disgusting. It seems to stem from a certain revulsion towards human secretions, but I can’t help thinking that it’s also a bit of a fad - like so many other things - not to like “moist”.

I like the words “moist” and “moisture”. To me they are very fundamental concepts in terms of describing nature: ‘the moist, fertile soil’
Water is a wonderful thing, without it there would be no life. And “moist” just means something contains water.

I have never heard a Dane express dislike of the Danish word for “moist”.
