Vadim M.
I can't see some user's discussion messages and notebook corrections. Why? Do you have the same problem?

Hello.

I can't see some user's discussion messages and notebook corrections. For example, I can't see messages or corrections one of my iTalki friends, who help me.

Beside that, when I open discussions list, I see number of comments it contains. But when I'm following this discussion by clicking topic title, I see ANOTHER NUMBER of comments, that less than one I saw before followed the discussion. I made video, where I'm showing how it's going on. Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHj0v7ykp-s;

This disscussion https://www.italki.com/discussion/180431; was shown in that video.

Nothing helps me. I tried everything: tried another browser, refreshed page, cleaned cookie and cash and even use proxy server to temporary change my IP. Everything was useless.

What is it? Site feature or site bug/glitch?

I've already mailed to support and I hope get help ASAP.

Does anyone have the same problem?

Mr Pi is right. Unfortunately it isn't uncommon for users getting blocked here after being flagged. Sometimes they get banned permanently. Check if you can still access your friend's account. There are two possibilities:

- The account isn't visible anymore. This profile has been deactivated or removed.

- The account is visible but you can't open any notebook entries or discussions by the user. The user is blocked from the community but might still be allowed to take paid classes. The user can still see his own discussions, notebook entries and corrections, so he might not be aware that he's blocked.

If you have any possibility to contact your friend outside of italki (e.g. via Skype), then do that and tell him to ask the italki team for reactivation of his account.

@Vadim

Aliph was a very active community member for several years. Users who followed the discussion section for a while would know her. That's why I called her "prominent". There were also several other users who got blocked recently. But since they were fairly new, the italki crowd didn't get to know them yet. Aliph also booked a lot of lessons, helped a lot of other users and always defended italki, so banning her doesn't really make sense.

Hi,

Having been blocked once, it took about a week and few messages back and forth to get me unblocked.

iTalki has an automated spammer system (as they call it), which may ban people based on some magic words used in a message, notebook correction or other. Problem of course is that we don't really know what those words are, so there's no easy way to just avoid them.

The more you post, the more words you use and so the risk of getting inadvertently banned increases. The user being banned may not notice being banned at first, because they can keep posting -- it's just that their messages don't show to others anymore.

While the system is what it is, the only way to get back to posting is either to create a new account or contact iTalki support. Hope this helps!

Well, then Mr. Pi is blocked now. Trust me. I've been around for a while and even the most trustworthy users get blocked once in a while.

If it’s ok Vadim, I just want to say that there is a blocked memeber from last night and he might not know it.

His name is Suleman, he’s from Pakistan and he’s a foodie. I believe he used a spam word that triggered italki system and this is why his profile is blocked. His discussions are mostly about food and his last discussion yesterday was about ice cream :)

If anyone contacted him previously through private messages, it would be nice to write him a message to inform him that he’s blocked so that he contact italki support at:
