4 Tips to help you remember which word is the noun and which is the verb
Advice and Advise
TIP:
- Advice is the noun and so is the word "ice". They are both things, so they are nouns.
- Therefore, advise is the verb.
EXAMPLES:
- The advice (n) he gave me was very helpful.
- Please advise (v) me when I have an upcoming lesson.

Backup and Back Up
TIP:
- Buckup is a compound noun (one word)
- Back up is a phrasal verb (a prepositional verb)
EXAMPLES:
- Keep the backup (n) of your files in a safe place.
- I should back up (v) your computer files on a regular basis.

Farther and Further
TIP:
- The word farther usually describes distances, so remember FARther.
- Further describes quantity or degrees.
EXAMPLES:
