Absolutely NOT! I don't think there are many food safety laws here in Malaysia. Mostly the authorities act upon complaints by the people rather than enforcing laws by checking up on restaurants.

I've found crocroach feet in my noodle soup before and still got charged for the bowl because the waitress said that I ate some of it already! 

But we are still well known for out food!

I got sick eating fast food once when I was eight. However, it was because I ate it hours after I bought it, not because the food itself was bad. :) Food is very safe to eat in the United States.

@Yini: That story is going to keep me awake all night now. Absolutley vomitous hahaha. Was the resturant you went to very popular?

In many developing countries ,the people there  will keep a long time dishonest,it is the same situation as many developed countries ,I think   this a insurmountable stage of human historical development.once the national quality improve very well,evrything will be fine ,include your food.
