I think Jason Statham is the most popular British action star today. i like him because of his style of mixing extreme action with a touch of humor. There is almost no melodrama in his movies just non-stop action complimented with sly humor.

Christian Bale is my favorite actor (American Psycho, The Dark Knight Trilogy (as Batman), The Machinist, The Fighter, Out of the Furnace, American Hustle...and later this year he stars as Moses in "Exodus"). He is the arguably the most versatile, if not the best actor of his generation, and has undergone amazing physical transformations for each film. A great "Method" Actor.
Other actors I more or less like: George Clooney, Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, LeonardoDi Caprio, Robert DeNiro. (all "Method" actors)
I liked Tom Cruise in "RainMan", "Jerry Maguire" and "Magnolia". Daniel Craig, Mark Ruffalo, Hugh Jackman, Ben Affleck and Sam Worthington are good too.
