How do I reply to a comment someone made one of my discussions?

Hello,

I'm new to the site and am just finding my way around it. My question is " how do I reply to a comment someone left for me on one of my discussions that goes into their notifications?

I thought I did the right thing but instead it came up as a comment inn my own discussion.

Any help would be so appreciated.
