كان حبومينيس حفيدا بوسيدون, و هو ربّ الأبحار. ضحك حبومينيس على المتنافسين بيد آتالانتا, وظنّ إنهم مجانين وهم قامرون حياتهم لتحصل على زواج آتالانتا. و لاحظت أفروديت و هي ربّة الحبّ تعليقات حبومينس و قرّرت أن تتدخل في الأمر.
Hipomenes was the grandson of Poseidon, the lord of the seas. He laughed at the contenders for Atalanta's hand, and he thought they were out of their minds gambling their lifes to marry Atalanta. And Aphrodite, who is de goddess of love, noticed Hipomenes' comments and decided to intervine.
وهكذا تحمل المسير حبومينيس إلى مملكة آتالانتا. وقابلا بعضهما من البعض. وسقط فورا حبومينيس في الحب. أما آتالانتا، فهي مهتمة كثيرا عن حبومينيس، وفي الحقيقة كانت عاشقة لكنّ لم تعرف بهذا لأنّ ما كانت تشعر بالحب من قبل.
And so, destiny carried Hipomenes to Atalanta's kingdom. And they met each other. And Hipoenes fell instantly in love with Atalanta. As for Atalanta, she was very interested in Hipomenes, she was in fact in love with him although she did not know it since she had not felt love before.
وطلب حبومينيس دوره ليجري ضد آتالانتا رغم كان فوزه مستحيلا. وكانت آبالانتا حزينة على تحد حبومينيس. ولكن كانت أفروديت أيضا منتظرة دورها للتدخل و عرفت أن تكون آتالانتا فضولية للغايا، لذا أطيت حبومينيس ثلاث تفاح ذهبية من حديقة الهيسبيريديس. وكانت أفرودت متأكدة أن تلك التفاح سوف تلفت الانتباه آتالانتا.
So Hipomenes asked for his turn to run against Atalanta although his victory was impossible. And Atalanta was saddened by Hipomenes' challenge. But Aprhodite was also waiting for her turn to intervene and she knew Atalanta was extremely curious, so she gave Hipomenes three golden apples from the Garden of the Hesperides. Aphrodite was sure those apples would draw Atalanta's attention.

وطلب (حبومينيس) دوره ليجري ضد حتى ينافس/حتى يتسابق مع (آتالانتا) رغم كان فوزه أن فوزه كان مستحيلاً. و كانت (آبالانتا) حزينة على تشعر بالحزن حيال تحدي (حبومينيس) لـ(آتالانتا). ولكن كانت (أفروديت) أيضاً منتظرة تنتظر دورها للتدخل حتى تتدخل و عرفت تكون و هي كانت تعرف أن (آتالانتا) شخص فضولية فضولي للغاية، لذا أطيت أعطت (حبومينيس) ثلاث تفاحات ذهبية من حديقة (الهيسبيريديس). وكانت (أفروديت) متأكدة/واثقة من أن تلك التفاحات سوف تلفت الانتباه انتباه (آتالانتا).
