An issue about relationships
How do you think Japanese people are different from people in your own country? (sorry for my vague question) I believe the relationship between yourself and your bosses or colleagues is different. I imagine the majority of companies in Japan have strict hierarchies in their workplace(or even in schools). It's not so easy for Japanese people to give their true opinion or feelings to their boss. Of course, it depends on how they are close to their boss, or the atmosphere of their workplace. Also, It has to do with their characteristic. People are likely to be avoidant, but most of them are always considerate. However, In my view, things will be much easier if we can express our thoughts a lot more casually, and I will try it!

I think it is mostly an Asian mentality..
I grew up with an Asian parent and a European one, and I can definitely see what you are saying. In Europe people have a lot more space to express things in their workplace, while in Asia it is much more common to stick to what they are told to do. I think it is the way people were raised that contributes to this. Asian parents are far more strict, and old fashioned, so their children might be less comfortable with expressing their own feelings and opinions.
Of course there are a lot of factors and exceptions on this! :)

In my country, there are less strict boundaries between hierarchies at work/school. Although, of course each job is different, and some jobs have stricter hierarchies than others. Large companies in my country often have strict hierarchies, while smaller companies/businesses do not have strict hierarchies. Regardless of the company size, I believe that it is much easier to have casual relationships at work in my country than in Japan. Sometimes, my coworkers are so casual that it's actually a problem.... I have one coworker who sometimes swears at my boss, and yet they are also good friends somehow.
