How do your area celebrate wedding? Yesterday I went to a wedding. Here in China or at least in my city, we usually start a wedding at noon, and many relatives and friends(50 tables people is not a big number). And we give 红包(lucky money) to the new couple as good wishes. However, nowadays the 红包 has changed its good intention before, more like people's pressure. Well, I have to admit it is an interpersonal-communication now. People give me 红包 this time, then I have to give 红包 back when he helds a ceremony like his birthday, his daugther's wedding or his parents' birthday. I'm not saying it's good or not. But I'm sure i would not like to celebrate my wedding like this. I don't like too much people and 红包, just wanna closest friends and relatives to share my happiness and get-together. I hope everyone in wedding has a real wishful heart, instead of going through the motions Moreover I'd like to know how do your area celebrate wedding?

In Canada, weddings are similar to this. In Italian (and Irish culture too, I think) there is a huge dinner feast that lasts 5 or more hours. Many relatives and friends of the married couple would participate and enjoy their meal. Weddings are typically organised and funded by the marrying couple (including the dinner). There are dancing ceremonies, and visitors would offer gifts. I've heard of weddings that are much more extravagant than this in other cultures. Personally, I think simpler is better.
