Japanese Lesson for beginners 4-3 きょうは木曜日です。 みなさん、こんばんは。 あさこです。 See the picture at the end. This is a calender. We'll learn how to say a day of a week, Monday, Tuesday... today. Can you see kanjis above the date? like 月、火、水、木... They are the ones, Mon, Tue, Wed... As for a date, like 1st August, we'll lear it on Lesson 5, so lets forget it now. :-) Let's look at new vocabularies first. --- きょう: today あした：tomorrow あさって：the day after tommorow --- 月曜日（げつようび）: Monday 火曜日（かようび）：Tuesday 水曜日（すいようび）：Wednesday 木曜日（もくようび）: Thursday 金曜日（きんようび）：Friday 土曜日（どようび）：Saturday 日曜日（にちようび）：Sunday 何曜日(なんようび）：　what day~~? --- 今日は、木曜日です。 - きょうは、もくようびです。 So How to ask " what day is it tomorrow?" Yes! of course. あしたは、何曜日ですか。 - あしたは、なんようび ですか。 --- 金曜日です。(きんようびです） あさっては、何曜日ですか。 - あさっては、なんようび ですか。 --- 土曜日です。(どようびです） ------------------------------- Here is a little bit extra with the use of "XからYまで" we learnt last time. I normally work weekdays and have Saturday and Sunday off. I took 2 days off this week, Thursday and Friday. This is my summer holiday! 夏休みは、木曜日から日曜日までです。 - なつやすみ は、もくようび から にちようび まで です。 --- 休み（やすみ）: day off/ holiday/ break / vacation etc "休み" is a quite useful word. :-) 昼休み（ひるやすみ): lunch break 夏休み （なつやすみ）: summer holiday ... 土日 が 休み です。 - どにち が やすみ です。 -- I have Saturday and Sunday off. 土日(どにち） : abbreviation for Saturday and Sunday. Don't need to pay attention to "が” so far :-) --- 春（はる）: Spring 夏（なつ）：Summer 秋（あき）：Autumn 冬（ふゆ）：Winter --- Lets learn "Saturday AND Sanday" next! ではまた！
