They looked very friendly and I wanted to talk with them but I couldn't understand what they were saying. All I know about Japanese is hajimesashite, sayoonara. ^^

I really want to learn Japanese. Yesterday afternoon, when two Japanese teachers of my roommate arrived our dormitory. They looked very friendly and I wanted to talk with them, but I couldn't understand what they were saying. All I know how to say in Japanese is hajimesashite?, sayoonara?.
