There's no significant difference... The essential structures are the same so all Spanish speakers can understand each other without much effort. Don´t worry about what kind of Spanish to learn.

Hello Josh, Spanish has so much accent and dialect, but one different between the Spanish spoken in Spain and Spanish spoken in the Americas is the ponunciation of different sounds, for example in Spain, people pronunce ´´z´´ like TH in ´´think´´, but in every country of the americas this letre is pronounced like ´´s´´. But exist so much other different that I cannot write it. If you want, you can see more different on internet in series from Spain and from the americas. Sorry if my English is not good.

Josh, the Spanish spoken in Spain is the original, pure Spanish. Just like English spoken in Great Britain. I'm learning Spanish too and run into difficulties all the time. I post something and sometimes receive several corrections. They are all pretty close but with slight differences depending from which country the person is (Spain, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Chile). It was confusing at first but now I actually like it because i'm learning to know the differences.

There are many differences....something like American English and British English....many different words, different pronunciation, etc. In Spain we use 'tú/usted' depending on who you are talking to (usted is very formal). They tend to use 'usted' in America most of the time.
