Marriage Is Not the Tomb of Love

On the wedding reception, before the couple exchange rings, they always say this vows, ‘to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish, until death do us part’. When you say these vows on your wedding reception, do you keep the words in your heart or do you just regard it as the sentence you need to say on the wedding? Some people say marriage is the tomb of love. Some people say marriage is the paradise of love. When you say these vows which place do you feel you would go? Go to the tomb or go to the paradise? I think you would know after you experience it. Because there is an ancient saying in China read, "People who wear the shoes are the only one who knows if it is suitable".

But there are so many people who say that they <strike>because </strike><strike>even</strike> are unhappy after their marriages. They say their marriages have become their(a) nightmare and the lives they had before marriage<strike>s are</strike> was so wonderful and colorful with their lovers. Sometimes it appears that marriage will ruin love. But I want to ask: does love vanish after couples get marriages?

No, it doesn't! A married couple must still have love for each other. Only their ways of expressing and demonstrating love in daily life are different from the passion and romance before marriage.

If we take a close look at marriage, we would discover that it doesn't ruin anything but only exposes what lies behind love.

If what lies behind love <strike>are</strike>  is hypocrisy, or deceit and lies, then sooner or later the<strike>y</strike> secret would be exposed <strike>after</strike> during marriage. Once a relationship goes steady, <strike>we would slacken</strike> people relax. Then you'll be able to see the very true face of him or her clearly. (Then you will be able to see their true faces clearly.)

It is not marriage, which turns you ugly or bad. Marriage is only a mirror, which exposes the very true face of a person completely. It doesn't ruin love, but allows you to see the truth of love.
