Epithalamium
Epithalamium
by Hiroshi Yoshino 吉野 弘
To stay happy, better to be silly
Better not to be too great
Better to be aware that being too great will not last long
Better not to aim for perfection
Better to talk big that perfection is unreasonable
Better that either of the two is playful,
Making a fool of oneself
Even when there is an event to accuse each other
Better to become afterwards suspicious of possessing the right to criticize the other
When speaking the truth
Better to say it somewhat mildly
Better to be aware that saying what’s right easily hurts the other
Without being seduced by uneasy tensions in trying to be praiseworthy or right
Relaxed, calmed
Better to be in the sun
While being blown in the wind wholesomely
suddenly your hearts get filled with deep emotion by a fond sense of being alive
That will be the day.
Then hopefully you two will understand why the hearts are filled with deep emotion by exchanging no words.

Thank you for translating this beautiful poetry by Hiroshi Yoshino. I considered editing some of the words, but now I think that for poetry your words in English are just right, and also so very moving. Hiroshi Yoshino will be missed in this world, but he will not be forgotten. Thank you very much, again, for so wonderfully translating these lovely words of Mr. Yoshino.
