I think you are using Yale romanization, right? I never learned it well (I know a mash up of different systems). 大家好 is something like daai (big) gaa (like in family or home) hou (good)

Thanks Elizabeth, I'm afraid that I cannot read Chinese though :-( I can only read the phonetic sounds (Romanization) and speak. At some point when I'm more confident with speaking I may pick it up! :-)

I am living in Macau. I have noticed when addressing a group people say 大家好. It is the same structure as 你好.
