Una pregunta: era + estuvo !Hola¡ Alguien puede ayudarme con "era" + "estuvo"? Esto es mucho más fácil en inglés porque sólo usamos "was / were." Esos son correctos? El estanque era pequeña. --> The pond was small. Tu ropa era muy formal. --> Your clothes were really formal. Le cena estuvo deliciosa. --> Dinner was delicious. Las mantas eran cómodas. --> The blankets were comfortable. Sus ojos eran verdes. --> Her eyes were green. Estuve en el parque. --> I was at the park. Su mano era grande. --> His hand was big. Su cara era bella. --> Her face was beautiful. !Muchas gracias a todos¡

El estanque era pequeño. --> The pond was small.
Tu ropa era muy formal. --> Your clothes were really formal.
Le cena fue deliciosa. --> Dinner was delicious. (in that sentence we can put "estuvo" too, but "fue" is better)

Hi Matthew, In addition to the difference between SER and ESTAR, you may be asking about when to use preterite (estuvo) and when to use imperfect (era). Generaly imperfect (ERA) is used to DESCRIBE things in the past and to indicate a general time frame without a specific ending. "Cuando yo era niño" = when I was a child. Pretertie is used for events with a specific beginning and ending in the past. "Ayer estuvo en el parque" = yesterday I was in the park.
