How do parents name their children?

I found out there is a difference between China and America in the way that parents name their children.
In America, if the man has a very honorable father, the man can name his son with the grandfather’s name. I guess it is like, my dear father, I love you, I respect you so much, when I saw my son, he reminded me of you, and it is like you are always with me.
In China ,we have a different way of showing our respect. In the same situation, the man has an honorable father, but he would have never named their son with the grandfather’s name. The name of his son will be someone else, because the grandfather ’s name must be unique. When someone calls the name , he know it is my grandfather, the name and grandfather must be unique in his mind. Nobody can replace the grandfather.
This is why there are no names such as XXX.XXX. Jr in China.
