should government control the use of fresh water? Nowadays, most of us can easily use fresh water in our daily lives, no matter at home or in public areas. However, we cannot deny that there are many places where people are still suffering from the shortage of water supply, so some people believe that governments should tightly limit the use of fresh water. Their concerns are not unreasonable. The first reason of this worry is that although most part of the earth is covered by water, the available section for people use is extremely restricted, especially in some African areas, in which people even die of thirst. Besides that, water pollution is also an essential cause. And there is a huge amount of water being polluted every year because of the discharge of industrial waste into bodies of water. So water saving is absolutely necessary. However, other people believe that people have rights to use how much fresh water they want. This is due to a fact that water, as a basic public supply, is very significant to human’s health. So if governments tightly control the use of water, it may cause many inevitably health problems. Another problem associated with this policy is that people who are obsessed with how to comply with government regulations will under tremendous pressure. Thus, I personally agree with this statement and firmly believe that there should be no restriction on the use of fresh water. To conclude, my view is that the most efficient way to protect water resource is preventing the water pollution and controlling the desertification, but not just limiting the water use.
