Er oder Der? Why does this sentence from nachtrichtenleicht.de use the word "er" instead of "der"? "Gegen den Bundes-Nachrichten-Dienst gibt es neue Vorwürfe: Er soll einen deutschen Regierungs-Mitarbeiter ausspioniert haben." I thought "er" was used for "he" but in this sense they're talking about the German Intelligence, which is a government entity and not a person.

you need to know the basic form of word: Der Bundesnachrichtendienst Gegen den Bundes-Nachrichten-Dienst gibt es neue Vorwürfe: Der Bundesnachrichtendienst soll einen deutschen Regierungs-Mitarbeiter ausspioniert haben. its mutch shorter when you use "er"

But WHY is it not consistent. Meaning, if you use Der for "the" then why not used it again in the next sentence? Why does "the" become "er"? Is that just a German grammatical rule I need to accept?
