Watch more Cantonese dramas probably those from hong kong or surround with Cantonese native speakers. I am not a Cantonese speaker. But i can tell you according from my perspective as a Min Nan dialect speaker. Realistically speaking , the nine tones is extremely hard to grasp, you will need to find a professional Cantonese teacher who can teach you the nine tones. As a Min Nan speaker, i do not even know the nine tones in Min Nan at all, even if my parents who speak Min Nan can't be bothered to know the nine tones because they speak the dialect from young with my grandparents. I picked up my own family dialect by listening to my parents talk and watch some Taiwanese dramas. Chinese dialect like Cantonese is best learnt from context. Firstly, you need to catch some words that do sound like Mandarin, word such as 朋友 in mandarin is prounounced as "pang yeow" in Cantonese. It sound phonetically similiar to some extent. From there, you pick up other words that are different from Cantonese. Then you use the words that you learnt in Cantonese to form a sentence.
Cantonese is somewhat an older form of Chinese compared to Mandarin. Sometimes the Cantonese expressions are vastly different from Mandarin in some cases. If you are learning Chinese dialects like Cantonese, you are essentially learning what did the Chinese people in the Guangdong province talk in the old days when Mandarin is not popularised in China and Taiwan.
For myself, I do not learn Min Nan from books, i just listen to my parents talk in Min Nan and watch Taiwanese dramas and just follow what they say. It is too hard to learn from books according to my experience. Similarily, the best way to learn Cantonese is to follow what the Cantonese people say. It is easier. Since you know chinese, i think it would not be too difficult for you since you have a good foundation in Mandarin. Remember, Chinese dialects are best learnt based on Context and following people. Watch more Cantonese dramas and follow them. The more you understand Cantonese, the more you follow how they speak, soon you would be on your way to speaking Cantonese. Thats all i can tell you. All the best!
