Why does “square” imply “rectangle” while “squarely” implies “straight”?

Hmm, I wouldn't say that "squarely" literally implies "straight". It implies more that something is precise or accurate, like hitting the exact spot. Not like implying something like a "straight line". That usage of "squarely" has nothing really to do with the shape or that in Geometry, all squares are rectangles. It's just another use of the word, an adverb at that.
Here's a sample usage: "Are you sure Shen is a beginner in darts? He hit the bull's eye squarely in his first game, and twice even!"

“Square” can also mean something that is at a right angle as in the building trade. IE the wall is “square”
And as mentioned squarely is more in front, as in approaching something squarely. Approaching it head on.
