Recently, (or "today" or "Currently", you could say "These days" but in this situation is sounds a little awkward) two snowy owls have been seen in the north of Spain. This is extremely rare in my country as they’re very far from their original territory. This species is a circumpolar bird that only leaves the Tundra in winter to migrate to the vastly open areas of the Taiga. When the temperature in this part of Europe was colder than it is today, between 21 and 16 thousand years ago, Snowy Owls were seen in these same parts of Spain. So, somehow these beautiful and awesome birds are not newcomers but old friends that came back home after a very, very long time.
