I could be suspended from italki before replying to this. However there are some food names that are bedazzling for an American in Britain. Some of the funniest misunderstands between the British and Americans or not food related. But can be very funny and embarrassing. Right after college I was hired by a tour company to accompany groups of American high schoolers in Europe for the summer. We ate in a restaurant where there was an item on the menu that caused no end of hilarity. I had to explain that the spotted d*ck is not a venereal disease. Likewise, they were shocked to see fa*g*ts in rich sauce on the menu. They thought it was an offensive slur.
