Mistake = wrong choice: We all make mistakes. Selling my house was a mistake. Error is more formal and usually connected to software issues but not necessarily: There is an error in that report. Error is very used in science: - experimental error = the difference between a measurement and the true value or between two measured values; - approximation error = the difference between an exact value and some approximation to it; - human error, medical error, etc. There is also an "error of judgment": The decision to expand the company was an error of judgment.

i think this is simplest explanation…errors are made due to lack of knowledge whereas mistakes are accidental

Mistake and error are synonyms; they’re usually interchangeable. However, the subject’s intent is implied in a “mistake”, so it’s most often applied to situations where a person has made the error and might feel remorse or shame. “Error” is applied more often to machines but can apply to human error as well. “I made a mistake” and “I made an error” both make sense, but calling it a mistake better communicates that it wasn’t your intention. “The computer had an error” is correct, but “the computer had a mistake” sounds strange.

Mistakes are usually human, errors are usually in machines, software or automated systems. However in British English politicians and managers often say something was “an error of judgement”, which is a polite way of saying “you f**ked up”! This is similar to the euphemism “mistakes were made”.

Mistake / used in describing your decisions or any body that is wrong, or to describe the morality issues. Error / used in describing software fields mostly, like when apps are stop without any reason, or some like that. I hope my answer help you 🤗
