There was a fun thing that shocked me 2 months ago. When my new colleague came into our office, I thought that it was just a student who entered the wrong room, but he actually was my new colleague who is just 22-year-old. In the beginning, he even had no idea how to call me, should he call me “aunt” (is it the Chinese equivalent of “madam”? I’m not sure if it’s a mistake or just a cultural difference issue) or just call me by my name. He never had the occasion to work with people who were as old as his parents. Over the next 2 months, he couldn't get along with us well due to the age difference. But he really likes to stay alone to spend most of his time playing video games or watching live streaming. We can see the internet era has had a massive influence on his generation. He'd rather stay in a virtual world than staying with his friends. He told me that most of his peers like this life style too and they seldom communicate with others. Maybe we think they are lonely and poor but they don't. They even have virtual spouses in their games. They have no intention of getting promoted, but they are responsible and diligently fulfill their duties.
